What is a split-flap display?
A split-flap display (also called a Solari board or flip board) is a mechanical sign that shows characters by rotating split flaps — each flap has half a character on each side. They were common at airports and train stations before digital screens took over, and their distinctive flip sound and retro look remain iconic.

Upgrade to FLIPPITY PRO for saved presets, full paid export quality, branding removal, and custom board sizing up to 1,200 cells.
Can I export my split-flap board as a video?
Yes. Free accounts can export PNG snapshots plus GIF Low and GIF Med within the weekly limit. FLIPPITY PRO adds MP4 export and the full paid GIF and MP4 quality range. All exports run entirely in-browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.
